Our Leadership

Pastor Dan Mamatela

Senior Pastor — alongside Mrs. Amy Mamatela

Pastor Dan's journey is one of extraordinary grace. Growing up in South Africa, he fled to Zambia as a refugee in 1976 and joined a training camp in Angola, where he was selected as bodyguard for the president of a freedom fighter group in East Germany.

It was through the Arkansas Women on Mission team, serving at the Olympics, that he encountered Jesus Christ — and that encounter changed everything. In 1995, he enrolled at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating and going on to pastor in Salt Lake City alongside his faithful wife and ministry partner, Amy.

At his core, Pastor Dan is passionate about prayer, preaching, and building healthy, Gospel-centered communities. "God works through small groups," he has often said — and Millcreek Church is living proof of that conviction.

"We gather not for ourselves, but to be equipped for the work God is doing in Utah."

Together, Dan and Amy have built a church rooted in the conviction that anyone in Christ is an Ambassador of Christ — called to love their neighbors, pray without ceasing, and labor faithfully in the harvest field of Millcreek, Utah.

Amy Mamatela

A Faithful Ministry Partner

Throughout every season of ministry, Amy Mamatela has been a steady and trusted partner in the work — offering her gifts in meaningful ways and walking faithfully alongside Pastor Dan in service to the Millcreek community.

"You can't kick someone out of the church just because someone else thinks they're doing something wrong. You have to realize you are a shepherd, not the Shepherd."

— Pastor Dan Mamatela
